You answered my question while I was responding to your previous comment elsewhere :-)
Good to know what this is. I've been seeing quite a number in the sandhills, and had thought it might be you-know-who (i.e. the famous Zayante Band-Winged Grasshopper,
T. infantilis
). But apparently
T. infantilis
is quite small, smaller than this one I'm guessing (and tiny compared to that relatively gigantic
T. thalassica
).
I'll keep on looking whenever I'm there. I'm surprised that I haven't been able to find a good, fairly large-size image of
T. infantilis
on the web...just pretty small, not-so-clear images...though

I've had the same frustration looking for T. infantilis photos
I wrote a big long comment here, but it makes more sense under the
Trimerotropis
so I moved it there.
