Identification
The red area can cover the top of the abdomen (as in intermedia or nana) or be absent (atra, mirabilis, propusilla). Terga with white bands at base, except in alticola. The bands are strongly curved in propusilla.
Range
worldwide, incl. most of NA; several spp. transcontinental, but tend to be more diverse in the west(2)(4)

common flower visitor in open weedy areas

recorded hosts include various Pentatomidae, some moths, and unidentified Acrididae(2)
