Caliroa sawfly larvae on red oak - New Brunswick - Caliroa

Caliroa sawfly larvae on red oak - New Brunswick - Caliroa
Hyla Park, Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
September 3, 2014
Found on the underside of a red oak leaf (Quercus rubra). Is probably C. obsoleta but could be C. fasciata, the oak slug sawfly. According to Rose and Lindquist (1997 rev), obsoleta is found on white oak and fasciata "is apparently associated with" red, in Ontario.
