Thanks.
Any idea about species? H. carolinensis, maybe?

Maybe H. antelucana,
I almost filed it there but I get the feeling there's more than one species there. The median carapace stripe is so narrow it looks like H. baltimoriana too, but I notice a few subtle differences there so I'm not sure that's it. There are a few under H. antelucana sort of like this and there's more that have a fuller stripe, I expect the ones with the fuller stripe are really H. anteulcana. There's another southeastern species though, H. timuqua ... I don't know anything about it but sometimes wonder if it might be what's mixed in with the H. antelucanas. I'm not sure at this point. Do you still have the spider? A ventral might help.

Interesting.
No, I let her have her space and time on the porch. Should she show up tonight, I'll give her the cold treatment for a ventral shot or two.

Thanks,
she looks gravid. You don't need to chill her to get the ventral if you put her in a clear plastic bag. If you gently smooth the plastic over her and flip it over holding it in place she won't be able to move.
