Red Beetle Larva

Red Beetle Larva
Ames, Story County, Iowa, USA
March 22, 2007
Size: 2 mm
I found this guy crawling about some moist papery bark I'm keeping in an aquarium. The color is spectacular. I'm guessing Cucujiformia... not that it narrows it down much.

Melyridae was the first family I thought of too.
Here are a couple I found, both pink but nothing as bright as yours:1 and 2

Its Melyridae - almost sure
only Cleridae would be possible too - but unlikely by size.

cheers, Boris
