Small Fritillary - Boloria chariclea

Small Fritillary - Boloria chariclea
Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park, Washington, USA
August 18, 2014
There were many Western Meadow Fritillaries in the vicinity but this one was distinctly different, more boldly patterned.

ID
This is a female Boloria chariclea.

An easy way to distinguish between epithore and chariclea from the upperside is that the outer most row of spots on epithore are outward pointing chevrons while on chariclea they are inward pointing triangles.

Mike, thanks for the ID tip.
I noticed that the margin and fringe have white markings which I could only find for Boloria chariclea rainieri in BugGuide. Is this a subspecies specific pattern?

Lighter fringes can be found
Lighter fringes can be found in females of several subspecies. This individual has exceptionally white fringe markings, but I've seen similar markings are in Utah/Colorado females as well.
