Iowa Crayfish

Iowa Crayfish
Ames, Story County, Iowa, USA
September 7, 2014
Size: 4ish inches
Caught him a week or so ago while in squaw creek. Meant to give him to my snapping turtle, so I put him in a 20g tank to hold him until feeding day, but he is actually really interesting. Thinking Ill keep him. I put maybe, 15 rosy reds in the day I got him, and all but one are gone today. He has a wound on his head that looks mostly recovered. His shell was pretty soft when I caught him, so I assume it was another crayfish or something that pinched him. I looked through an ID list, and with all the color variations of the species that live in Iowa, I just cant tell the difference. Thanks in advance guys!
