this is Trimerotropis pistrinaria
The "Three-banded" is much larger and doesn't make noise when it flies the way this one can.
T. pistrinaria
is common on exposed gravelly areas on the Plains.
Sparagemon equale
is perhaps
S. pistrinaria
's closest relative, and they are
very
similar. I suspect that the two even hybridize sometimes.
T. pistrinaria
is actually misplaced in
Trimerotropis
, and should be put in
Sparagemon
, but the change has never been officially made.
