Remarks
There are three species currently recognized in the North American checklist of Lepidoptera. However, I (ASH) believe that there are only two species present in our area. N. sequax is a European species. While over 1,600 Nearctic specimens of Neotelphusa have been barcoded, none barcode as sequax, BOLD:AAL5674. The holotype of N. querciella appears to be a Pseudotelphusa or Xenolechia, which fits its host plant, oak.

There are two BINs of North American Neotelphusa. BOLD:AAA6353 represents N. praefixa, which is a leaftier of blueberry (Vaccinium). BOLD:AAH4952 represents a presumably undescribed species I have reared from bayberry (Myrica pensylvanica) on Block Island.
