Female Flame Skimmer behavior - Libellula saturata - female

Female Flame Skimmer behavior - Libellula saturata - Female
Huntington Beach Central Park, Orange County, California, USA
September 1, 2014
I'm pretty sure this is a female flame skimmer. My questions are 1) in the other photo the front legs are being pulled over the eyes (several times while I watched) in what appeared to be a grooming motion. Do dragonflies groom? 2)This dragonfly was knocked off its perch by what appeared to be a large robber fly. Is that common behavior? The impact was significant enough that I heard it.

Grooming and Robber Flies
"A comb of flat bristles on each front leg is used to brush dust and water off the eyes" p. 24 - (1).

Robber flies often take larger prey, even bigger than themselves sometimes.
