Hanging thief robber fly - Diogmites

Hanging thief robber fly - Diogmites
Topsail Beach, Pender County, North Carolina, USA
September 9, 2014
Found on the beach being buffeted by the waves. I took it up onto drier sand away from the waves.

robber fly
Here I was thinking robber flies all looked like they had hairy beards. It's interesting to learn something new from this site. Thanks!

Different styles
They all have beards, but some have goatees and others have full haven't-shaved-since-the-1960s beards.
