This katydid was sitting on top of an old Blazing Star flower head in my garden. As I watched him I discovered he was surrounded by females that were sitting in the surrounding plants. His posture seemed to indicate that he was trying to impress the females and I noticed that the membranes at the top of this wings were rapidly fluttering. I'm posting a picture of one of the females to accompany the photo of the male. I thought they looked a lot like Slender Meadow Katydids.

definitely male and female Conocephalus fasciatus
