Orange Midge Larvae on Purpletop

Orange Midge Larvae on Purpletop
Virginia State Arboretum, Clarke County, Virginia, USA
September 5, 2014
Size: under dissecting scope
While learning grass identifications, there was this orange structure. But it crawled away! It may be a midge larva. It looked very striking against the purple grass. Hope you can have some luck. Is it the Sorghum midge larva, Contarinia sorghicola? I can't find a good photo. But it has been know to infect Purpletop (Tridens flava) apparently.

According to the catalog(1) Stenodiplosis albescentis Gagné is associated with Triodia flava, which is probably the same as Tridens flava.
