White and Brown Moth - Tolype

White and Brown Moth - Tolype
Amherst , Erie County, New York, USA
September 17, 2014
Size: 1-1/2 inches
This moth was found this am on sidewalk near door and we moved it out of the way of danger from being stepped on. Later when we returned home, the moth was very close to where we left it, butt on the brick of the building, very low near the ground which was covered in bark mulch.
I cannot find this in my guides. Also, I was concerned about the dark center line, wondering if it could be an injury.
Temps 50s-60s.
