Big Brown Beetle - Prionus californicus

Big Brown Beetle - Prionus californicus
Rice, Stevens County, Washington, USA
September 18, 2014
Size: body about two inches lon
I briefly put my finger down next to it for scale. It's about two inches long. It looks like polished mahogany! It was waving its antennae the whole time I was maneuvering for angles. I have another photo from the side. Good thing my road doesn't get much traffic with me crawling around for photos.

Moved tentatively

California Root Borer
I believe it is a California Root Borer, Prionus californicus, but another should confirm.

Thanks!
This was a first sighting for me. Thanks for the quick ID. I'll leave it here for a little while in case someone wants to confirm.

I share my bug pictures on my Facebook page to the delight of some and the protests of others. I like to be able to say what it actually is instead of just "look at this bug."
