Would be the idea with this one, it has a bit of a shiny thorax, and the abdomen has a margin which Syrphus doesn't have.
So that would make this one a female Eupeodes sp.

Is this right?
It seems that the ongoing question is whether a fly is Eupeodes or Syrphus. The answer is often "Don't know", and the fly winds up at the tribe level (Syrphini).
Edward, please check these two posts and see if they help clarify the issue:

well, i was thinking Syrphus or Eupeodes, i just happened to lean toward the latter, however, i really do not know and was hoping one of the Syrphid guys could clear it up... i will probably just move it to tribe later with the rest of the dont knows.
thank you for the information though, i had not seen Richard's photo, or had not taken the time to read it... one of the two.
