Family Asilidae - Robber Flies, ID please - Mallophora bomboides
Skidaway Island, Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, USA
September 21, 2014
I believe this is the Asilidae, Robber Fly family, the Bee Killer, (Mallophora bomboides), with victim of the Apidae (bee) family, possibly a male Southern Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa micans). I request an ID of the Robber Fly, and if possible an ID also of the victim bee.
