This bug reminded me of a Box Elder Bug or some type of Seed Bug. It was very small ... perhaps only 1/4" and was feeding on grass pollen

This I believe is the same species but doesn't show blue in the face. Perhaps one is the male and one the female?

This tiny fly favored feeding on grass pollen. It has markings similar to that of some Bee Flies on its back but those markings are obscured by the wings. The red/white/blue in the face I thought was appropriate for Independence Day. Any suggestions on a species would be greatly appreciated.

Michelle

Dobsonfly (Corydalus) - Corydalus cornutus - Female
New London, Ralls County, Missouri, USA
July 4, 2008
Size: 3 inches long
This large insect, with two pairs of wings and impressive pincers, showed up in the porch garden in the evening of July 4th. I believe it is a female Dobsonfly. The mandible looks quite formidable, but the mandible of the male is usually much longer.

Attracted to gas station lights. This species is very common this year in the grasslands surrounding Grand Forks area.

Found in the grass using a flashlight to reflect off the eyes of the spider. Definitely a wolf spider with lings, any idea on the genus or species?
