while walking through sand dune - salt marsh complex this bug appeared on my hand. I've not noticed one before with this pale medial line and don't know if it is a feature of a genus or species or just an aberrant marking. Any help appreciated! Added later: In many ways seems close to Holcostethus ?

Ants tending leafhoppers on goldenrod - Formica ulkei
Ants tending leafhoppers on goldenrod - Formica ulkei
Lafayette Twp., Medina County, Ohio, USA
August 14, 2012
These ants were tending leafhoppers (Publilia concava) on goldenrod growing around the shoreline of a pond. Best guesses are Camponotus novaeboracensis or Formica ulkei. Not sure how to tell the difference. I also noticed what looked like a collection of the same species, though smaller bodied crawling all over the head of some flowering swamp milkweed nearby.
