Ant mimic and very active, just like an ant. This individual was captured as it ran out of a rotting log, chilled, and posed, but refrigerator temperatures did not slow it down much. Length measured by photographing adjacent to a scale.

Attracted to a mercury vapor lamp. I'm almost certain this is a Zale species. This page has some good pics of Zale species for Georgia, but I can't decide which one this might be.

1 of 2 images of this specimen.
Found mating under the eaves of my house. I've been seeing them all over this past week. They remain coupled for a very long time. I kept this pair in cool, dark, conditions, and they were still coupled on April 6.

Zebra Swallowtail taking fluid from damp sand - Eurytides marcellus
Zebra Swallowtail taking fluid from damp sand - Eurytides marcellus
Johnston County, North Carolina, USA
May 14, 1992
Taking fluid for several minutes from damp sand, this individual was very tame. It extruded fluid from its anus continuously while drinking.

This is presumably a male.
