Biography:

I studied bark arthropods (mainly oribatid mites and other tiny things) for my PhD project, long before sites like this one were available.

My identification skills are now a bit rusty, since I switched from research to teaching over two decades ago.

I've also been converted from a New Englander to a desert rat, and couldn't be happier about that. I'm continually delighted by Embioptera who find their way into my house (and who I catch and release as best as I can).

I used to collect moths decades ago, but moved on to other things. I have recently taken up the hobby again (with a camera this time), now that there are excellent resources available for identification.
