I studied bark arthropods (mainly oribatid mites and other tiny things) for my PhD project, long before sites like this one were available.

I also have a fondness for Syrphidae.

My identification skills are now a bit rusty, since I switched from research to teaching over a decade ago.

I've also been converted from a New Englander to a desert rat, and couldn't be happier about that. I'm continually delighted by Embioptera who find their way into my house (and who I catch and release as best as I can).
