Nigel Grindley, Contributor
City, state, country:
Block Island, RI, USA
Biography:

In 2012 I retired from a career of research and teaching molecular biology in CT, in order to live full time on Block Island, RI. Block Island is a naturalist's paradise with nearly half of the island under conservation protections. After a lifetime "stuck" in a lab, I have converted from molecular to field biology and am particularly interested in the island's population of dragonflies, butterflies and moths, as well as the bird life. At about 13 miles from the nearest land masses (the south coast of RI and the easterly tip of Long Island, NY), the island has a particular interest as a somewhat isolated ecosystem.
