Biography:

My father was a naturalist at Sequoia/Kings Canyon N.P. I collected insects as a kid and have a degree in General Biology. I retired from the National Service and spent ~30 years as a ranger at Yosemite. I'm a U.C. Master Gardener and photographer.

I shoot small insects with a Canon 5D mk II, or a Canon R5, using a Sigma 150mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM macro lens and a Yongnuo YN14EX Macro Ring Lite. For butterflies and odes I use a Canon 90D with a Canon EF 100-400 F4.5-5.6 IS II zoom lens with a Canon 430 EX III-RT Speedlite strobe. I process and catalog my photos in Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC on a Windows platform.
