Amateur entomologic (and arachnid) hobbyist of many decades (Mom said I followed ants around before I could walk!).
I kept, as 'pets', Parasteatoda sp. in inverted mayonnaise jars for most of my pre-pubescent youth, fascinated by their [esp. web-building and predatory] behavior, leading to future 'study' of the similar activity of L. mactans "under glass".
A well-educated healthcare professional, I still have insect nets, but mostly now take photographs.
