Biography:

I focus on adult Chironomids. While I am not a traditional expert, I have spent multiple 100s of hours dedicated to learning how to identify them. All of my identification information comes from primary sources like books and published papers. Feel free to ask for help, or sources that could be useful in identifying adult Chironomids.

Some very useful general resources for Chironomids in the Nearctic:

The Nearctic Species of Tendipedini (Chironomini) 1945

Adults of the Subfamily Tanypodinae in North America 1971

North American species of the genus Chironomus 2024

A catalog of Nearctic Chironomidae 1990
