Biography:

I am a amateur entomologist personally studying arthropods of the western US.

My collection explores and notes the diversity of arthropods in the western us, with a primary focus on northern Utah. Currently I have collected around 200-250 species, over 14 orders.

I mainly focus on trying to create dry specimen of what I collect. This will use a variety of techniques with chemicals, usually acetone and alcohol, to help me get dry specimen of normally soft bodied arthropods. I will also stuff larger specimen with cotton to help maintain form. I use linseed oil to replace water, helping keep the color in some of my specimen.

I have always been fascinated by the diversity of arthropods since my youth. I doubt I will ever shake this fascination with arthropods.

The majority of my imaged specimen are shot with focus stacked photography using Zerene Stacker as the software. I have a dedicated stacking rail to reliably and consistently render images of my specimen.

I now accept voucher/ donated specimen, I will pay for shipping on certain species. Specimen given to me will be imaged and uploaded. I only take dead specimen (no Chelicerates) from the US and Canada west of the Mississippi river. Specimen must be a species not already in my collection. Collection data must be provided for the specimen, email me if anyone is interested.
