Born: Bogota, Colombia
Chased insects since age 6
Attempted Veterinary School but failed...animals too big.
Obtained BSc Zoology, Univ. Rhode Island 1982.
Worked on research of Colorado Potatoe Beetle at URI during 1 summer. Did Black Fly surveys in the RI state another summer.
Got MSc in Entomolgy from Univ. of Nebraska Lincoln. Research was on overwintering of Pteromalidae fly parasites.
Attempted PHD in Entomology at North Carolina State Univ. Failed... I am not PHD material... good try though. Worked with mosquitoes. Actually, left in good standing... Published about 10 entomology papers in refereed journals.
Then.... became an Electronics Engineer (MSEE, NCSU 1994) go figure... never published a single paper in electronics.. The passion for insects is alive and well...

I post the following types of images in bugguide if...
1. I have no clue what species or genus or family the insect is and after spending 5 minutes on BG could not find an ID.
2. Its a new record for BG.
3. It is a new State record for BG (geographical distribution).
4. It has not been recorded for the month the image was taken (temporal distribution).
