Spiderweb, SC is a "populated place".

A "populated place" as defined by the United States Geological Survey is a: "Place or area with clustered or scattered buildings and a permanent human population (city, settlement, town, village). A populated place is usually not incorporated and by definition has no legal boundaries. However, a populated place may have a corresponding "civil" record, the legal boundaries of which may or may not coincide with the perceived populated place."

I am not sure how this area got that name, but my best guess is that it's named for someone whose last name was Webb and whose first name/nickname was Spider. This is based on the fact that there is a county road in this area called "Spider Webb Rd.".
