I've trained as a scientist, but have always had a keen interest in nature, and photography. So it is not surprising that, given that I have lived in a stag beetle hotspot since 1983, I have developed a strong interest in the Lucanidae. Through my website I've known about the BugGuide mostly through Patrick Coin and Jim McClarin regarding our common interest in the North American Stag Beetles - Lucanidae.
Luckily during a visit to Canada, September - October 2005, I have had the opportunity to join the BugGuide and to upload some of my pictures, an invaluable learning experience. Soon after that it seemed just the natural thing to do to start uploading some of my site visitors directly in the BugGuide as well.
In the past I've used a Fuji FinePix S602Z, see an action shot below.

This was followed by a Canon Powershot in 2009. And in 2015 I've used a Canon EOS 550D.
