I'm the curator and taxonomic entomologist of the West Virginia Department of Agriculture insect collection. We have approximatelly a quarter of a million insects mostly from WV and surrounding states. Approximately half of them have already been identified to genera and/or species mostly by specialists. My specialty is the family Tingidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera).I've been working with the group for over twenty years. Though my work started in Mexico, my native country, I have become most familiar with eastern North American species. I have work also with other Heteroptera particularly of the northeast. I spend much time outdoors collecting insects of any Order. Most get preserved and go into our insect collection, but I also like to keep live specimens of special interest for observation or for rearing, particularly lace bugs.
