I've been studying, rearing, and photographing moths since 1989, especially in east central (but also northern) Minnesota. In 2009 I published Moths and Caterpillars of the North Woods (Kollath-Stensaas, Duluth)(now a bit outdated). I've had the pleasure of travelling a good many times to Costa Rica, where I've photographed moths and other wildlife especially in the Guanacaste Conservation Area (ACG) in the northwest corner of the country. I'm broadly interested in natural history, evolutionary biology, conservation of biodiversity, slime-molds, fungi, and landscape photography. I have a M. S. degree in Zoology from the University of Minnesota (where I mostly studied birds). We live on a small property in east central Minnesota and base much of our exploration within yards to a few miles of our doorstep.
