Biography:

With my wife Melly as an assistant, I worked with birds professionally on National Wildlife Refuges for 30 years. We are also interested in mammals, herptiles, insects, and wildflowers. Except for dragonflies, butterflies, and (to a lesser degree) moths, comprehensive guides and/or references to western insects do not seem to exist. Therefore, we seek and appreciate any and all identification assistance from other BugGuide contributors. Since retirement in 1995, we have resided off the grid in very rural Idaho. We have named our 48.5 acres "Xylem Acres" due to the presence of Ponderosa Pine and Douglas-fir among the variety of brush, forb, and grass species.
