My mother inspired me to explore nature. She was always taking photographs of flowers and butterflies as we hiked in the mountains, canoed in the Boundary Water, or the parks in Nebraska. We always carried guide books in our daypacks to identify birds, flowers & trees. I am much luckier because we have digital cameras now. I became a middle school science teacher. The ability to share my photos with my students helped open their eyes to the world around them in a different way than just showing them a photo from the internet. One of my goals was to make them life-time learners and Citizen Scientists. Now that I am retired, I get to explore even more, look more closely, and keep learning.
I am grateful for the people who take the time and have the patience to help me identify the beautiful and amazing creatures that live in a world so often unseen.
Thank you for you do.
