Biography:

I'm an ecologist (Ph.D.), and I know a lot more about the plants than I do about the bugs that are on the plants. Most of my photos are taken near my house because it is embarrassing to know less about my backyard than about my research sites. My backyard is ~3 acres of historically overgrazed pinyon-juniper woodland with a mix of naturally-occurring wildflowers/forbs/shrubs/grasses and natives that I've planted.

Santa Fe County has a 7,500' elevation gradient from a low point of approximately 5,000' to a high point of approximately 12,600'. My backyard is at approximately 6,900' and may produce specimens that are very different from those found at the higher elevations that are nearby as the crow flies.
