I was launched into the natural world at an early age, becoming a birder when I was merely a toddler (well, if you count chasing Horned Larks and leaping up after Barn Swallows). My interest in insects started to bloom when I lived in Washington State, thanks to Dennis Paulson, and really sky-rocketed when I moved to sunny Colorado in 2011. BugGuide has been a major influence in fostering that interest.

I am particularly fond of Dragons & Damsels, bee flies, robberflies, flower flies, paper wasps and grasshoppers and owe many thanks to Dennis Paulson, Bill Prather, Dave Ferguson, Bill Dean, Bob Biagi, Matthias Buck, Robert Cannings and Joel Kits for fostering my interest and knowledge.
